Moroccan Chicken Tagine
While searching through our cook books last week, we found a recipe for a dish called Chicken Tagine. It called for some interesting combinations, including apricots and garam masala. So, even though we weren't quite sure how the flavors would come together, we tried it out.
Very happily, once again, the flavors turned out a delicious dish and we had a great meal. I was a little disappointed that the recipe called for dried apricots, as they added an odd texture. So next time, I'll probably try to use fresh apricots instead. Similarly, the diced canned tomatoes could have been so much better in the dish if they'd have been fresh. So when in doubt, go fresh! Next time...
Pepperoni Pretzels
Two weeks ago, I attempted a visit to the farmer's market, looking for some delicious treats for College Football Saturday at home. Unfortunately, our favorite treat had been all sold out already. So we decided to make our own soft pretzels, and put a little twist on it (pun intended). I found a recipe for pepperoni stuffed pretzels, and we set out to make them from scratch.
Sadly, the recipe seemed to have left out a couple of key steps to anything that requires yeast, and we didn't let the dough rise enough. So as we went through the process, the dough finally started to take on the right texture, and we ended up with a few good ones.

Shrimp and Grits
This recipe for cheddar grits with shrimp was fairly easy to put together. Neither of us had ever eaten grits before, so this was definitely an experiment on taste and texture. Luckily, adding cheddar cheese to just about anything will make it tasty, right?
This dish was very good! The shrimp turned out really well and we like the grits a lot. I do think that it was a little rich to eat an entire bowl, but another success for us this week!!
